PRIVACY POLICY AND TERMS OF USE
GuardKit
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
Last Updated: January 1, 2026
1. Introduction
GuardKit is a privacy-first iOS utility application that helps you understand when your device may have been moved or interacted with while you were away. GuardKit operates by running Guard Sessions that analyze motion signals (such as acceleration and orientation changes) and, if you choose to enable it, nearby audio activity levels using your device's built-in sensors. These signals are summarized into a local timeline of activity indicators for your review.
GuardKit is designed to be transparent, respectful of user privacy, and compliant with Apple platform policies.
2. What GuardKit Does
GuardKit logs motion-based indicators (such as movement spikes, pickup-like motion, sustained handling, or orientation changes) during active Guard Sessions. It optionally monitors nearby audio activity levels (for example, sudden sound presence) only if you explicitly enable this feature. The App presents events in a clear, chronological timeline and allows you to review sessions and event summaries on your device. GuardKit operates only when you explicitly start a Guard Session.
3. What GuardKit Does Not Do
GuardKit does not detect device unlock attempts, Face ID or Touch ID failures, monitor app usage, record conversations, store or transmit audio recordings, identify people, track users across apps or devices, or run persistent background surveillance.
GuardKit does not attempt to determine who interacted with your device or why it was handled. All indicators are probabilistic and informational only.
4. Audio Monitoring
GuardKit includes an optional audio activity feature that you may enable in settings.
When enabled, GuardKit monitors audio signal levels only (such as changes in volume or intensity). Audio is analyzed in real time on-device. No audio is recorded, stored, or leaves your device.
When disabled, GuardKit does not access the microphone in any form. You remain in full control of whether this feature is enabled.
5. Data & Privacy
GuardKit is built with a local-first privacy model. All Guard Sessions and events are stored locally on your device. GuardKit does not collect personal data, transmit data to external servers, or sell, share, or analyze user data. Optional exports (such as reports) occur only when you initiate them. Your data remains under your control.
Permissions
Motion signals are processed only during active Guard Sessions that you start. Microphone access is optional and only used for audio activity level analysis if you explicitly enable the feature in settings.
6. Data Collection
GuardKit does not collect personal information. The App may process the following on-device only: motion sensor data (accelerometer and orientation data), optional audio signal level data (only if enabled), timestamps associated with detected activity indicators, and app configuration settings (such as sensitivity preferences). This data is used solely to provide the App's core functionality.
7. Motion Data Usage
Motion data is accessed only during active Guard Sessions that you start. Motion data is used to calculate motion-based indicators, processed locally on your device, not stored in raw continuous form, and not transmitted off the device.
GuardKit does not attempt to bypass iOS background execution limits and does not guarantee continuous monitoring when the App is suspended by the system.
8. Audio Data Usage
If enabled, audio data is used only to detect changes in sound activity levels. Audio data is processed locally in memory, is not recorded, saved, or transmitted, and cannot be replayed or reconstructed. GuardKit does not perform speech recognition or content analysis.
9. Data Storage
All data is stored locally using Apple's system frameworks. Data persists only as long as you choose to keep it. You may delete session data at any time from within the App.
10. Third-Party Access
GuardKit does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking frameworks.
11. Purchases & Access
GuardKit offers an app-managed 3-day trial that provides full access to premium features.
After the trial ends, premium features require a one-time purchase ("Lifetime Unlock"). GuardKit does not offer subscriptions.
Restore Purchases
If you previously purchased Lifetime Unlock, you can restore access from Settings using Restore Purchases. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID and handled by Apple's in-app purchase system.
12. Terms of Use
12.1 Intended Use
GuardKit is intended for informational and personal awareness purposes only. The App provides motion- and sound-based activity indicators that may suggest handling or nearby activity, but it does not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or interpretation of events.
12.2 No Guarantees
By using GuardKit, you acknowledge that activity indicators are probabilistic, device movement and sound can occur for many benign reasons, system limitations may affect detection quality, and results should not be treated as definitive evidence. GuardKit is not a security system, alarm system, or surveillance tool.
12.3 User Responsibility
You are responsible for how you interpret the App's information, ensuring compliance with applicable laws in your jurisdiction, and using the App in a manner consistent with Apple's policies and local regulations.
12.4 Limitation of Liability
GuardKit is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the App.
12.5 Changes to These Terms
These terms and the privacy policy may be updated to reflect changes in functionality, legal requirements, or platform policies. Updates will be reflected within the App.
13. Compliance & Acceptable Use
You agree not to use GuardKit for unlawful surveillance, harassment, stalking, or any activity that violates the privacy rights of others. You must comply with all applicable laws and obtain any required consent before using optional audio activity features in environments where consent may be required.
14. Security & Reliability
GuardKit is designed for on-device processing and local storage. However, device conditions (battery, sensor noise, device placement, motion environment), iOS limitations, and background suspension may affect detection quality and timing. You should not rely on GuardKit as a sole method for protecting devices, property, or personal safety.
